Overview & History

The Ranch

Overview

Diamond G Ranches—seven locations sprawled over 250,000 acres in Washington and Iron counties in Southern Utah—with Zion National Park as a backdrop, are home to Steve and Cyndi’s contracted livestock. Ranging in elevation from 3,400 to 12,000 feet, the animals are free to roam, allowing the rocky, rugged land to keep them in prime rodeo condition.

History

The main Diamond G Ranch headquarters, located in Toquerville, Utah, is where Steve and Cyndi reside. Here they enjoy a comfortable way of life, with wide open spaces and several of their best livestock, including White Magic.

Another ranch at Anderson Junction, about 3 miles wide and 17 miles long around the I-15 corridor, is private and government ground.

Near the historic iron mines of Iron County, Diamond G’s 40-70 bulls roam—from yearlings to 3 years old. Here, they learn “how to be bulls”—they get “legged up” for their future battles with cowboys both professional and otherwise. Other than a quick ride-through or fly-over, these livestock never see people. This rugged terrain is bucking bull training ground.

The Gilberts’ take the bred cows to the Peaceful Valley Desert Ranch to calve in the spring, covered with feed that allows the cows to thrive. Breeding begins in April so calves aren’t born in the heart of winter. This arrangement is ideal for breeding and birthing. In the last 4 years (2012-2015) 150 calves were born and all survived. In addition there is a 40 acre farm, just 20 miles west of Cedar City with pasture to raise 50 head of livestock to breed in the summer.

Overview

Steve & Cyndi

The diamond gemstone – at once the hardest, most abrasive mineral on earth, the symbol of the most tender feelings of love and showcase of brilliance and perfection. Those who know Steve and Cyndi Gilbert find it a fitting icon for their lifelong pursuit and dream, Diamond G Rodeos and Ranches.

When Steve & Cyndi honeymooned at the National Finals Rodeo in 1988, Cyndi had never heard of the Wrangler Finals National Rodeo (WFNR), and neither of them imagined that livestock would one day be such a significant part of their lives. Thanks to hard work, a love for the livestock and an undying effort from them both, the Gilbert’s have created an opportunity for many people who don’t have animals to enrich their lives, by getting up close and personal with bucking horses or bulls.

Gilbert Development Corporation (GDC), Crusher Rental & Sales (CR&S) and Cyndi’s career as a lawyer have provided the couple with the strong financial backing to follow their dreams beyond just business – to build a likewise flourishing ranch and rodeo enterprise that inspires both their own passion and that of others. It has become something they live and breathe everyday.

HISTORY

The Diamond G livestock have big-time names in arenas all over the West.
